NYEA students and our level 3 teacher David left school shortly after noon and headed on foot to the nearby South Street Seaport. We checked out the reconstruction of its ships and buildings after the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy, including exploring its history of being a fish market, then made our way to the back towards the boardwalk overlooking the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges. After taking some nice photos, we checked out the seaport area itself, including the shops and restaurants. After some time, we all decided to get some unique ice cream at Van Leeuwen, which offers different flavors of the treat, including vegan options. Shortly thereafter, we made our way to Fulton Street to take the subway home.

NYEA students and our Level 3 teacher David left the school shortly after 12:00 and took the 4/5 subway from Fulton St. to 59th St. in Midtown. Once we arrived, we walked via the East River to transfer to the cable car en route to Roosevelt Island. Shortly after making it to the island, we walked around and took some photos of ourselves and surroundings. Afterwards, we stopped at a place called Piccolo Trattoria, where we ordered lunch such as pizza and made our way down to the waterfront. Enjoying the view from the water’s edge, we took some more photos and then decided to call it a day from the hot summer sun.
