NYEA students and our level 3 teacher David left school shortly after noon and headed on foot to the nearby South Street Seaport. We checked out the reconstruction of its ships and buildings after the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy, including exploring its history of being a fish market, then made our way to the back towards the boardwalk overlooking the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges. After taking some nice photos, we checked out the seaport area itself, including the shops and restaurants. After some time, we all decided to get some unique ice cream at Van Leeuwen, which offers different flavors of the treat, including vegan options. Shortly thereafter, we made our way to Fulton Street to take the subway home.
