Greeting from the Director

Welcome to New York English Academy

Greetings! We’re so happy that you have decided to choose New York English Academy. I’d like to take a moment to welcome you to New York English Academy and give you some idea of what you can expect when you arrive.

The first time you, the student, walk through the door to attend class at New York English Academy, the first thing you will notice is our friendly and attentive staff. If you have any questions or issues, the staff will be happy to assist you.

Before proceeding to the classroom each day, students like to take a moment to meet new friends, greet each other, and have some coffee or tea (we always keep tea and fresh coffee available to the students). After that, it’s off to the classroom where the teacher is awaiting your arrival. Long before the students arrive our dedicated and experienced teachers are planning the day’s lesson. Each teacher writes a detailed, personalized lesson plan for each day of class. The faculty uses lots of innovative and creative ways engage you and help you improve upon the English skills that are most important to you.

Don’t worry though, our classes are not stressful. The mood and atmosphere are friendly and relaxed. Most classes start with a chat, a light warm-up activity or a simple review of the day before. This will give you some time to wake up your mind and get into the English mode. After that, the teacher will introduce the topic of the day. The teacher will have specific grammar and vocabulary that he or she wants to cover each day and will use the day’s topic to make the lesson more interesting.

But please don’t imagine yourself sitting still and simply memorizing vocabulary and rules. That would be too boring. Your class will involve lots of speaking with other students -- working with partners and in groups. Our teachers also like to incorporate various media into the lessons. So, you might be watching videos, hearing a radio story or even listening to a song. In fact, it might feel like you are just hanging out with friends.

But we take your English studies very seriously. Behind the fun and laughs are very real scientific methods of English language teaching. We have spent years developing a curriculum that will move your English skills forward quickly. And when you move to a higher level you will see that there is a logical connection between the levels. Each level builds on the one before.

After class ends you will feel energized, not drained. You can hang out and chat with your instructors, visit with your new friends and then -- the best part -- go practice your new skills in the greatest, most interesting city in the world: New York!

We’re very proud of the program that we have built at New York English Academy. And we can’t wait to help you build you English skills quickly.

So, bring yourself to New York City. Then let New York English Academy bring New York City to you!
