This past Friday we took some of our students to the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, and it was an incredible experience! Located at 97 Orchard St., the Tenement Museum was once home to hundreds of immigrant families and now has been turned into a museum dedicated to preserving their stories. We took a tour called “Sweatshop Workers,” which allowed us “visit to the Levine family’s garment workshop and the Rogarshevskys’ Sabbath table at the turn of the 20th century, when the Lower East Side was the most densely populated place in the world.” (http://tenement.org/tours.php
