Teddy Roosevelt House

On the third Monday of February, the United States celebrates the birth of our first president, George Washington. Over the years, the day has transformed into President’s Day, a day in which all presidents, past and present, are honored. In recognition of the holiday, this week’s field trip was to Theodore Roosevelt’s Birthplace in Manhattan. Theodore, or Teddy Roosevelt, was the 26th president of the United States and the first president to be born in New York City. His childhood home now serves as a museum dedicated to Teddy and the Roosevelt family. The house has been maintained and looks much like it did in the mid-1800s when the Roosevelts lived there. The students really enjoyed learning about and experiencing how New Yorkers lived in the 19th century. They also enjoyed learning more about Teddy Roosevelt, who is arguably one of the most popular presidents in US history.
