Green-Wood cemetery (9/7/18)

A cemetery may seem like a strange location for a field trip but when you consider the rich history of Green-Wood in Brooklyn, it makes a lot more sense. Founded in 1838 and now a historic landmark, Green-Wood is the final resting place of famous New Yorkers such as Boss Tweed and Basquiat, among others…

“The group left the school at 1:30 and took the R train directly to 25th St. in Brooklyn, one block away from the main entrance to Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood Heights.
Once we arrived at the station, we walked to nearby Aladdin Bakery, where some of us got coffee and baked goods.
Afterwards, we went to the cemetery, observing the interesting historical gravestones and beautiful nature surrounding us before making it atop the highest natural point in Brooklyn as old as the Ice Age.
We visited the Civil War Memorial, which gave tribute to all of the soldiers fighting for the Union and took photos of each other from a nearby point with the NYC landscape in the background.
In the end, after wearing ourselves out from walking and chatting, most of us went to El Bronco taco truck to savor some of the best tacos in all of Brooklyn. “
