What is “Short-term Absence” Policy?

Short-term Absence/ Vacation

(For F1 visa students)

The student is entitled to take up to eight weeks of short-term absence during ongoing program after completing a 26 week course. Students must request the short-term absence permission in writing one week before the beginning date of the absence.
Note: Any whole weeks of classes missed for medical leave/leave of absence/general absence/holidays do not count as time studied. If you miss/missed a whole week of class your vacation start date will be delayed by the week you have missed.

(F1 Students must)

  • Students who register for a course of twenty sixteen weeks or more.
  • Students who maintain the mandatory 80% attendance rate.
  • Students who maintain Satisfactory Academic progress.
  • Students must have a minimum of four weeks classes after Short Term Absence and must attend the class.
  • Short Term Absence should not start on a Monthly exam week
  • Students who fail to return to class after his/her short-term absence will be dismissed from the school and their SEVIS status will be terminated.

(For Non-I-20 students)

The student is able to apply for “Program freeze” option.
