Field Trip to The Armory Show: Antiquarian Book Fair (3/06/2020)

Group left NYEA at around noon and made its way to Fulton Station via uptown. Upon arriving in the Upper East Side neighborhood, we walked a few blocks towards the Armory Building on 63rd Street and Park Avenue.

After taking a few outside photos of the Armory, which is a beautiful and large brick building, we walked in and bought tickets. The antiquarian book fair featured international booksellers showcasing not only rare, limited edition and/or signed books,

but also antique maps, manuscripts, illuminated manuscripts, and ephemera. Diverse categories included art, medicine, literature, photography, autographs, first editions, Americana, etc. Prices ranged from several hundred to thousands of dollars for a single item. There was so much to see and learn about history that we ended up staying for a few hours. After walking around the large fair and meeting people from all over, we had a snack in the cafe before leaving.
