Museum of the City of New York (November 9th, 2018)

Group left the school shortly after 11:00 am and arrived around noon at the Museum of the City of New York (5th Ave. bet. 103rd and 104th Sts.). After passing the admissions desk, we watched a group of high school students in the main lobby clapping and dancing along to breakdance music. We then took the elevator to the bottom level just in time to watch Timescapes, a historical 20-minute documentary depicting NYC history from its beginnings up until the modern era. Afterwards, we walked around the entire building, checking out different exhibitions such as the history of germs and disease in NYC, black-and-white photography galleries of Chinese-American life in NYC, as well as a room showing the history of activism, Stanley Kubrick photography, etc. We then had a small bite to eat at the cafe inside the museum before checking out the gift shop in the main lobby. After that, we headed back to the subway station taking in the sights and sounds of Spanish Harlem.
