Field Trip to Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum (Friday, April 21st)

The Cooper Hewitt Museum is a unique museum located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. It is dedicated to creativity in design and decoration and its exhibits reflect hundreds of years worth of history in these areas. Housed in the old Andrew Carnegie Mansion, the building itself is a beautiful example of design and architecture. Last Friday, we took our students to the museum to see its famous “immersion room” exhibit, in which museum guests can draw their own designs on a screen to be displayed all over the walls. We also enjoyed seeing the latest exhibit, “The Jazz Age: American Style in the 1920s.” We got to see a lot of beautiful artwork, clothing, furniture and model buildings from the decade. Overall, visiting Cooper Hewitt was a great experience and something that we would like to do again in the future.
