A tribe of NYEA students journeyed through the island of Manhattan to the National Museum of the American Indian.  Students experienced the history and culture of the many native American populations who lived throughout South, Central & North America.  Many artifacts and objects from the various tribes were displayed including traditional clothing, tools, and crafts. They also learned some native American words: moccasins, powwow, tepee and shaman.

The NYEA students then explored the interactive exhibits in the ImagiNATIONS Activity Center.  In the Center they tried to balance in a kayak; played a farming simulation game; touched skunk and moose pelts; and learned about the Maya math system.

As the rain began to fall, famished students found an Italian restaurant where they feasted on pizza and discussed their adventures at the museum.
